LOA...finally!

It's here...finally!  We received our Letter of Acceptance to adopt Quinn yesterday.  We'd been waiting since June 7th.  Our wait, as has been the case all along, was on the longer side...64 days to be exact.  The waiting has kind of been reminiscent of waiting to go into labor.  You know when your due date is "supposed" to be and everyday that goes beyond that "due date" is agonizing!

For those not familiar with the grueling adoption process in China, we are by no means at the end of the road.  We now have to take our LOA to US Immigration, then to Chinese Consulate, then to China Center for Adoption Affairs, THEN we receive a travel approval only to wait another 3 weeks to actually get on a plane.  So we're looking at best to travel mid-October.

I say "at best" we'll travel in October, but in reality, I am learning more and more everyday that I really have no clue what is best.  I'm learning to rely on what God knows is best and to trust that His timing is perfect.  I rarely get on FB, but I did yesterday and happened to see a friend's post with scripture that echoes precisely what this journey has felt like to us.

"For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope.  For who hopes for what he sees?  But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." Romans 8:24-25

Patience is NOT my strong suit, but I am learning, slowly but surely, what it means to be patient.  For me it means staying in the present and savoring the gifts of each day instead of dwelling on the future.  It means trusting that God's way is perfect so reliquishing my need to try to control every detail.  It means understanding that the journey is as important as the destination so learning from the stops along my path.  It means hoping that what I cannot see, God has already seen, and praising the fact that He, not I, am running the show.

I'm glad I've finally taken the time to write down these sentiments because I need to be reminded of these truths everyday!  Hope to have more good news to share soon!
